Man Utd predicted XI to face Liverpool - Two changes expected with Ralf Rangnick short of midfield options

Manchester United travel to Liverpool on Tuesday night in a game that could prove pivotal for two battles in the Premier League.

The Red Devils’ 3-2 win over Norwich City at the weekend, coupled with losses for Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, mean United’s chances of making the top four suddenly seem much more realistic.

As for Liverpool, they return to Premier League action and renew their title tussle with Manchester City, following Saturday’s 3-2 FA Cup semi-final victory at Wembley.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will move ahead of City and into first with a win at Anfield over their old foes, before hosting another rival on Sunday, when Frank Lampard and Everton make the short trip across Stanley Park.

For United, they would move level on points with fourth-place Spurs should they pick up three points on Merseyside, but need to win by 10 goals to move into the Champions League places.

Ralf Rangnick does head to Liverpool shorter on options than he would ideally like, and the German confirmed in Monday’s press conference that Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay, Fred and Edinson Cavani remain absent.

Bruno Fernandes is expected to be fit despite being involved in a car crash on Monday, and the midfielder trained ahead of the match.

Meanwhile, United have confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo will not be involved, following the tragic news that his baby boy passed away on Monday, news which sadly sadly makes football feel insignificant.
