Man Utd predicted XI to face Chelsea with Ronaldo and Martial ruled out, plus player images

We’re expecting Erik ten Hag to name a similar line-up from the one which started at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Erik ten Hag could be tempted to stick with the same Manchester United side that won against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, when his side face Chelsea this weekend.

The Red Devils put in an excellent display against Spurs, winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes. But it was a match that was somewhat overshadowed by Cristiano Ronaldo’s post-match strop when stormed down the tunnel.

It’s since been confirmed he won’t be involved when United travel to Stamford Bridge at the weekend, with Ten Hag warning there are ‘consequences’ to his actions. “I’m the manager, I’m responsible for the culture and I have to set the values and standards and I have to control that,” the United boss explained on Friday.

With Ronaldo out, Marcus Rashford is the only option up front for the clash against Chelsea due to Anthony Martial being out through injury. “He was on the [training] pitch, but he’s not available for tomorrow. We have to see how it develops in the coming days,” Ten Hag revealed on Friday.

He also said in the same interview that another first-team player has returned to training and is nearing full fitness. “Aaron Wan-Bissaka is back on the pitch, so that’s good news, because we need everyone. We have so many games to cover, so we need a big squad, you need that you can pick players, that you have a choice. So I’m happy with that process.”

There’s also good news surrounding Harry Maguire and Brandon Williams, both of whom are back in training and were pictured during a session at Carrington on Thursday. Whether they’re fit to play against Chelsea is another matter, however, and Ten Hag is set to be without several players for the trip to London.

Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay did return in the Spurs win, but were limited to a place on the bench. The United boss could hand them a starting berth at the weekend, although we’re backing him to name an unchanged side. Here’s how we think United will line up..
