Man Utd predicted starting XI and bench for new season - if Cristiano Ronaldo stays and transfer news is true

Here’s how Manchester United’s starting line up and bench could look next season if Cristiano Ronaldo stays and transfer rumours are true.

Manchester United are in the middle of a squad rebuild under new manager Erik ten Hag, with Tyrell Malacia their first signing under the Dutchman so far.

The Red Devils allowed five first team players to leave the club at the end of their contracts, including Paul Pogba and fellow academy graduate Jesse Lingard.

However, if reports are to be believed, Ten Hag has his eyes set on a number of individuals to replace the departed names, with Frenkie de Jong the standout name linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The midfield is a key area United need to strengthen in having lost Pogba, Lingard, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata, while their forward options have also been depleted due to Edinson Cavani leaving at the end of his contract too.

Attention now turns to who Ten Hag will want to add to his squad with the former Ajax boss stating he only wants the ‘right players’ this summer.

"We want to add the right players,” he said in Monday’s press conference ahead of the Red Devils’ pre-season friendly against Liverpool on Tuesday.

“We have a really good squad, we are working to develop our way of playing and [if] the opportunity is there and we will strike.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly asked to leave the club during the transfer window, but Ten Hag has revealed he has no plans of selling United’s no.7.

The Red Devils’ manager said: “He is not with us due to personal issues. We are planning with Cristiano Ronaldo for this season. That is it.

"I am looking forward to working with him. Cristiano is not for sale. He is in our plans. We want success together."

With that being said, let’s take a look at how United’s starting XI and bench could look next season if Ronaldo stays and transfer rumours are true.
