Manchester United continue to be linked with a potential move for RB Salzburg forward Benjamin Sesko.
The Slovenian teenager is attracting widespread attention this summer after an impressive campaign in Austria, and has been touted as an emerging target for their Red Devils as they look to bolster their attacking options.
Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has even suggested that United could look to table a formal bid for the precocious talent in the coming days.
But if Sesko were to end up at Old Trafford before the end of the month, what shirt number would he take on?
Increasingly, shirt numbers are seen as highly marketable assets, with United permitted to hand Cristiano Ronaldo the No.7 jersey last term despite Edinson Cavani wearing it already that season.
Similarly, ensuring that Erling Haaland had the No.9 shirt is believed to have held up his arrival at Manchester City earlier in the summer.
Here’s everything you need to know about Sesko’s shirt number options...
What is Sesko’s preferred number?
Sesko currently wears the No.30 shirt for RB Salzburg.
At international level, the forward wears No.11, and he has been known to wear Nos. 21, 25, and 29 at various other times.
Of those latter three options, only No.21 is available at United currently.
Who wears 30 at United?
At the time of writing, the No. 30 shirt is occupied by goalkeeper Nathan Bishop.
There are, however, considerable question marks over the stopper’s future at Old Trafford, with League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers reportedly keen to secure a deal for his services.
In that instance, Sesko would presumably have every opportunity to assume the No.30 shirt, should he choose to.
Which other numbers are available?
There are currently several unused squad numbers at United.
The full list of options up to and including No.50 is as follows:
It’s also not out of the question for new signings to take on a shirt number higher than 50. In United’s current squad, Alvaro Fernandez and Alejandro Garnacho wear Nos. 74 and 75 respectively.
