Man Utd news: Red Devils ‘agree’ first Erik ten Hag transfer as Ajax tweet deleted

Manchester United are close to agreeing their first summer signing under new manager Erik ten Hag, according to reports.

The Red Devils are set to lose six first team players at the end of the season when their contracts expire, but will begin their squad rebuild with an academy signing.

As per talkSPORT, United have agreed a deal to sign 16-year-old goalkeeper Elyh Harrison from Stevenage.

The site adds that the Red Devils will pay an undisclosed six-figure fee for the promising shot-stopper, who is yet to make his senior debut.

Harrison has spent time with Stevenage’s first team this campaign, helping him get a taste for the senior game after impressing for their Under-18 team.

Elsewhere, United have deleted a social media post after receiving significant backlash from their supporters.

The post in question praised Ten Hag for his work at current club Ajax, with the Eredivisie club just one win away from lifting the Dutch title.

However, the Red Devils faithful did not react positively to the post, following the club’s embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

One United supporter dubbed the post disrespectful to the fanbase, tweeting: “Shameless. Disrespectful to fans. What made you think, this is a good story?”

Another Red Devils fan replied: “This must be one of the most embarrassing tweets ever. Have u no shame.”

Ralf Rangnick’s team sit sixth in the Premier League with one game remaining and will be hoping West Ham slip up in their last two fixtures in order to secure a Europa League place come May 22.

The Hammers could cause more shame to United if they’re able to win their remaining two fixtures, damming Rangnick’s side to a seventh-place finish and Conference League football.

The Red Devils travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace in their final game of the season, looking to complete a league-double over the London side.
