The Borussia Dortmund star is one of the most sought-after talents in Europe at present, with the Bundesliga club’s reputation for selling their top stars an encouraging sign for interested parties.
At just 19, Bellingham has shone domestically and in Europe for Dortmund and he’s also impressed on the international stage, leading to widespread claims he could be on the move this summer.
We have the latest on the former Birmingham City protege and which side he could join at the end of the season.
What’s been reported?
Last week it was reported that Liverpool, United, Real Madrid, City and Chelsea were interested in the midfielder, who is valued at around £130m by Dortmund.
It’s since been reported by Marca that Bellingham is Madrid’s ‘primary target’ and that he would prefer a move to the Spanish capital above the Premier League’s preeminent clubs.
Meanwhile, journalist Ben Jacobs claims the teenager has not yet picked Real and is ‘keeping his options open’.
He added in a Twitter thread that ‘Liverpool and Manchester City are still very much involved in an open race’ while stating Erling Haaland has encouraged Bellingham to join him at City. Jacobs reports United and Chelsea ‘are not currently frontrunners’ in the battle to sign the England international.
Meanwhile, as per The Telegraph, Chelsea’s owners have ‘attempted to make inroads into the Bellingham camp’ as they are currently playing ‘catch up’ in the transfer saga.
They add that Chelsea believe Liverpool and Madrid are in the driving seat at present but the Blues think they can still convince Bellingham to move to Stamford Bridge, while there remains a ‘fear’ that City will soon turn their attention to the player.
What do the bookies think?
Liverpool remain favourites to sign Bellingham and are priced at 6/1, just marginally ahead of City who come in at 8/1.
Next it’s United at a price of 12/1 and then Chelsea at 16/1. Arsenal (20/1), Tottenham Hotspur (25/1) and Newcastle United (25/1) are also listed, although Madrid aren’t included at present.
