Manchester United are willing to sell a player they signed just years ago for £73m.

Manchester United are willing to let Jadon Sancho leave Manchester United in January, according to reports.

The winger has not played for United since August and has been banished to train with the Under-21 squad since early September after he publicly criticised manager Erik ten Hag in a social media post. The United boss said Sancho was omitted from a matchday squad against Arsenal due to his poor performances in training that week, but the player responded on X (former Twitter), insisting Ten Hag’s claims were ‘totally untrue’ and added he had been made a ‘scapegoat’.

ManchesterWorld understands that for weeks prior to the Arsenal match there was growing concern around the club at Sancho’s lifestyle choices, which were not seen as conducive to those of a professional athlete.

Meanwhile, as per the Mirror, United are ready to ‘offload’ the 23-year-old in January, who is ‘unwilling to compromise and swallow his pride’. The Red Devils are prepared to take a big hit on Sancho, who they bought for a fee of £73m in 2021, but is now valued at around £40m in January.

Borussia Dortmund, Sancho’s former club, have been suggested as a possible exit strategy for the attacker, with the Times claiming manager Edin Terzic has kept in touch with Sancho since his departure. However, they add the Bundesliga side would not be willing to cover all of the player’s wages if he were to leave on loan, nor would they pay ‘anywhere near’ the £73m fee they received over two years ago.

Meanwhile, the Manchester Evening News report that Sancho has been ‘implored’ by his team-mates to apologise to Ten Hag while explaining that it’s the player, not the manager, in the wrong.

Sancho certainly won’t be involved in the Red Devils’ squad when they take on Sheffield United on Saturday at Bramall Lane, and the no.25 is one of up to 13 players who may be unavailable for the trip to Sheffield.
