Sergio Reguilon is on the verge of joining Brentford for the rest of the season after his spell with Manchester United was cut short earlier this month.
United decided to activate an early break clause in Reguilon's loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur in early January. The left-back was brought in as emergency cover for injured pair Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia but had just one start to his name since mid-November.

Hide AdShaw returned from a hamstring injury against Everton at the end of November and had been ever-present in the starting line-up until picking up another issue against West Ham before Christmas. Erik ten Hag also preferred Diogo Dalot on his unnatural side and so the decision was made to send Reguilon back to North London.
The Spaniard now looks set to provide emergency cover once again with Sky Sports reporting that he is having a medical at Brentford. The deal will be on loan once again, this time running until the end of the season.
Thomas Frank admitted that arrivals in that area were a priority for Brentford this month, with Rico Henry out for the season after suffering a serious knee injury in September. Reguilon has not featured for parent club Tottenham this season, meaning he can go out on loan for a second time.
United's decision to send Reguilon back has left them without a left-back in recent weeks, with Shaw absent again after picking up an issue against West Ham before Christmas. The 28-year-old's injury is thought to be minor and it was only due to what Ten Hag called a 'late decision' that he missed Sunday's draw against Tottenham.

It is hoped Shaw will be available to face Newport at the end of the month, although he could be rested in order to be fully fit when United travel to Wolves on February 1.
