Manchester United are being linked with a surprise move for Bayern Munich attacker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The Cameroon international has become the latest name to have reportedly emerged on the Red Devils’ radar ahead of the January transfer window.

According to a report by Media Foot, Erik ten Hag is ‘seriously’ considering a swoop to bring the experienced forward back to England. He had a spell in the Premier League at Stoke City back in 2017.

Choupo-Moting, 33, is out of contract at the end of this season meaning Bayern risk losing him for free next June unless they cash in on him this winter or can agree terms of a new deal. He has been with the Bundesliga champions since 2020 and has proven to be a useful back-up option for them up front.

He has made 71 appearances in all competitions German champions over the past couple of years and has chipped in with 26 goals, three of which have come in this campaign. Prior to his move to the Allianz Arena, he spent two years at PSG and fired nine goals in 51 games altogether for the French giants.

The veteran has also played for the likes of Hamburg, Mainz and Schalke in the past and has racked up just under 450 matches in his career to date. Stoke snapped him up back in August 2017 but they were relegated to the Championship in his only year in Staffordshire.

Choupo-Moting is now said to be on United’s radar as they hunt for more additions. They are currently 5th in the table.
