The forward is close to completing a transfer from Atlanta to Manchester United.

Manchester United will unveil Rasmus Hojlund ahead of Saturday’s match against Lens, according to reports.

The French side travel to Old Trafford for a pre-season friendly, with the Red Devils splitting their squad across Saturday’s game and Sunday’s clash against Athletic Bilbao in Dublin.

Hojlund won’t be involved in either encounter, but could be seen at Old Trafford for the first time this weekend. As per The Athletic, the Dane is set to be confirmed as the club’s latest signing with a pre-match appearance on the pitch.

United did something similar with the arrivals of Casemiro and Raphael Varane in recent years, albeit their signings were confirmed ahead of Premier League matches against Leeds United and Liverpool.

Hojlund reportedly completed his medical earlier this week and the paperwork is now signed on the player’s transfer to United. The Red Devils have agreed to pay Atalanta an initial £64m for the attacker, and potential a £8m in add-ons.

Assuming Hojlund’s transfer is confirmed on Saturday, United could announce the player’s new shirt number as well. The no.9 and no.17 jerseys, the 20-year-old’s preferred numbers, are currently occupied by Fred and Anthony Martial, two players Ten Hag is willing to sell this summer.

Hojlund was identified as the club’s main transfer target after Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen were deemed unattainable, and United have agreed to pay up to £72m despite Hojlund’s lack of experience at elite-level football.

After the striker's arrival is confirmed, United will turn their attention to completing a deal for Sofyan Amrabat, although that transfer is believed to be dependent on Fred and Donny van de Beek departing.
