All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Manchester United as attention turns to Tottenham.

Manchester United are now preparing for a clash with Tottenham after opening their season with a win.

Raphael Varane ensured United defeated Wolves on Monday night, but it was a disappointing performance from Erik ten Hag’s men, who were also fortunate to escape a penalty during the game. Ten Hag will have been pleased to see his side win, but he will also be acutely aware that better will be needed to see off Spurs this weekend.

In the meantime, transfer rumours continue to swirl, and here we round up the latest surrounding Old Trafford.

Amrabat alternative

United could yet move to improve the middle of the park, with Scott McTominay potentially on the way out.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, United could look to Everton’s Amadou Onana despite links with Sofyan Amrabat.

“Onana from Everton is another player that United have always appreciated, and they have been scouting him for a long time, so I think they have multiple names into the list,” Romano told The United Stand’s YouTube channel. Amrabat has been heavily linked amid talk with an exit from Fiorentina.

Maguire blow

United are set to miss out on a transfer windfall, according to The Guardian.

It’s reported that West Ham United have walked away from a possible deal to sign Harry Maguire. Maguire was stripped of the captaincy at Old Trafford this summer, but he is said to be playing hardball. Expected to earn far less elsewhere, the centre-back reportedly wants £7million from United to leave.

In the meantime, it’s claimed West Ham are tired of waiting for an exit to be agreed, with the Red Devils and Maguire still at odds, and it’s claimed the Hammers are now moving on to other targets as a result. That would be a big blow for United given Financial Fair Play concerns.
