United are understood to be in the market for reinforcements at right-back, and have emerged as a possible destination for the USA international.

With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about where a potential deal for Dest currently stands...

What is the latest on United’s interest in Dest?

According to an update from the Manchester Evening News, United have held exploratory talks with Barcelona about signing the right-back on a season-long loan.

It is claimed that the Red Devils regard Dest as an upgrade on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has struggled for form and consistency since making a £50 million move to Old Trafford from Crystal Palace in 2019.

The Dutch-born American previously played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax, and has been left out of Barca’s last two matchday squads amid mounting speculation surrounding a late exit this summer.

For their part, United are said to be “unimpressed” with Barca’s conduct over the Red Devils’ protracted pursuit of Frenkie de Jong in recent months, but are willing to put that disaffection to one side in their efforts to bring in a new right-back.
