Man Utd handed 'monumental' transfer blow amid fresh concern

All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Manchester United as they prepare to take on Everton.

Manchester United are once again picking up the pieces after a disappointing early exit from Europe. The Red Devils finished bottom of their group after their defeat to Bayern Munich, and they not only missed out on the Champions League, but they also missed out on a Europa League spot.

Erik ten Hag is now under serious pressure, and it gets no easier, with United making the trip to Anfield this Sunday to take on league-leaders Liverpool. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Old Trafford.

Branthwaite blow

United have been linked with a move with Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite ahead of the January transfer window, but there may be bad news. According to TeamTalk, Everton won't accept an offer for their talented 21-year-old.

The only exception is if they receive a 'monumental offer', according to the report, and it's unlikely United will spend a huge amount in the January window. The Red Devils spent well over £200million during the summer and they will have to tread carefully with FFP even with incoming money from Jim Ratcliffe.

Varane concern

Raphael Varane could be set to leave United at the end of the season, and for nothing. According to reports, Varane's current contract ends at the end of this season, with the length of the deal previously unknown.

The Frenchman has seen his play time reduced over recent weeks, and in a fresh twist, his contract means he could decide to agree a pre-contract agreement with a club outside England from January 1. Varane is now 30 years of age, but United paid £41million for the centre-back in 2021, and losing him for free would be a big loss in a short space of time for the Red Devils, especially when they need to increase the amount they make from transfers to match their current level of spending.
