Manchester United fans enjoyed another Wembley victory on Sunday as their team progressed to the final of the FA Cup.

The Red Devils have already tasted success at the home of football this season when they beat Newcastle United 2-0 in February’s Carabao Cup final, and while Sunday’s performance wasn’t quite as convincing, the supporters celebrated in the pouring rain as United won again.

On this occasion, it took penalties for Erik ten Hag’s side to come away with the victory over Brighton & Hove Albion. The south-coast club dominated possession for long spells in the semi-final but couldn’t create enough chances to kill the game off.

United did have David de Gea to thank after the goalkeeper kept out several strikes, the best of which saw him palm away Julio Enciso’s powerful effort. Meanwhile, United carried a threat on the break and Marcus Rashford’s shot that sailed wide in extra-time was perhaps their most dangerous opening.

But with no goals after 120 minutes of football, penalties were required to determine a winner. After the first 12 spot-kicks were converted, Solly March missed the unlucky 13th, and Victor Lindelof dispatched the next one to set up an historic first FA Cup final against Manchester City.

There were jubilant scenes after the final whistle, with the players celebrating with the supporters. Antony was filming hugging someone in the crowd, Marcus Rashford gave his shirt to one lucky fan and Wout Weghorst sprinted towards the United end after Lindelof’s penalty.

On a day to remember for the fans, we’ve put together this gallery of images from Wembley…
