Manchester United booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round on Monday night after beating Wigan Athletic 2-0 at the DW Stadium. Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes scored for the Reds to set up a meeting with one of Newport County or Eastleigh later this month.

Erik ten Hag's side will now prepare for a massive Premier League clash at home to Tottenham Hotspur. And we've rounded up some of the latest headlines from the red side of Manchester in the build up.

January plans

United are 'keeping their eyes open' in January as Ten Hag looks for reinforcements in defence and attack, according to reports. Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth claimed the Reds would move on a centre-back and a striker, if the right opportunity came about.

Club chiefs insisted towards the end of last year they they were expecting a quiet month, with the priority being to trim the fat of the squad amid a reduced fixture schedule between now and May. But Ten Hag is open to bringing players in and is keen to add more attacking threat, with Rasmus Hojlund scoring just once in 15 Premier League appearances.

The Dutchman is also hoping to lower the age profile of his centre-back group, with three of the current five over 30-years-old. Moves in any position will likely be on loan, with the club awaiting full ratification regarding Sir Jim Ratcliffe's investment.

Hammers blow

West Ham will be without Jarrod Bowen when they come to Old Trafford on February 4 with The Athletic reporting that he will be out for 'at least one month' with an ankle injury. Bowen had to be helped off the pitch during his side's 1-1 FA Cup draw against Bristol City on Sunday.

David Moyes could also be without creative midfielder Lucas Paqueta, who lasted just 14 minutes at the weekend before suffering recurrence of a calf injury that kept him out against Brighton & Hove Albion the previous week. There is no timeline for his recovery but the Brazilian is now a doubt for the trip to Manchester.

West Ham have already lost Mohammed Kudus to the Africa Cup of Nations, meaning Moyes could have none of his first-choice front three available for the meeting with his former side.
