Tottenham 'submit £26m bid' for defender ahead of Man Utd trip in blow to Arsenal and Newcastle United

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of Sunday's clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford

Tottenham Hotspur have submitted their offer for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin, according to reports. Spurs make the trip to Manchester United on Sunday in a key game for both sides as they seek to bolster their respective chances of finishing in the Premier League's top four.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have made an offer that totals £26million with Spurs also agreeing to send Djed Spence out on loan to Genoa. Spence spent the first half of the season with Championship side Leeds United but had his stay at Elland Road surprisingly terminated by the West Yorkshire club last week.

Dragusin could feature against Erik ten Hag's side if the transfer is completed by the end of the week. The 21-year-old from Romania started his career with Juventus but spent most of his time on loan with spells at Sampdoria, Salernitana & Genoa before joining the latter permanently in the summer. Dragusin's agent recently revealed he had been in London and held talks with Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle over a possible move.

"I have been in London for some time and have almost weekly meetings with important teams," Florin Manea told Romanian outlet Fanatik "We are getting closer. I spoke with Newcastle, with Arsenal, with Tottenham. I also have messages with them, conversations. There are teams that ask [about Dragusin].

"I want to say that 100% by next summer, Radu will play in a not strong, very strong club! In the top 10 in the world. He wants to be in the Premier League, but know that Milan like him a lot. They must first come to terms with Genoa, that their claims are very high."

Manea also revealed Genoa had offered Dragusin a new contract despite only joining the club permanently in the summer. Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany reports the defender has signed a deal at Spurs until 2029, while Bayern Munich had interest in the player but did not make an official offer.

Ahead of Sunday's game, Spurs have also agreed a deal with RB Leipzig for the loan signing of former Chelsea striker Timo Werner. The forward is set to undergo a medical on Tuesday and his move should be completed in time for him to available for Ange Postecoglou's side at Old Trafford.

Werner had been linked with United previously as they seek to rectify their goalscoring problems. Werner's move to Spurs does contain an option to buy, according to BBC Sport, and he could get his first taste of Premier League action since leaving Chelsea when United host Tottenham on Sunday.

Spurs have had a busy start to the transfer window, while the majority of Premier League clubs have yet to make any major moves in the market. On Monday night, United boss Ten Hag did not rule out the possibility of his club bringing in loan players this month, with permanent moves unlikely due to the financial picture at Old Trafford.
