Manchester United have reportedly identified Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani as their leading alternative option to key transfer target Rasmus Hojlund.

France international Kolo Muani has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months after he joined the Bundesliga club in a free transfer move from Nantes last summer. Despite suffering a 6-1 defeat against Bayern Munich on his debut, Kolo Muani went on to score 23 goals and provide 17 assists in 46 games in all competitions as Eintracht ended the season in seventh place in the Bundesliga table and made their way to the last 16 of the Champions League.

His performances for club and country have attracted interest from several clubs around Europe - but the in-demand frontman gave little away when he discussed his future during the recent international break.

He said: “Honestly, I want to keep improving and working hard. It’s my dream to play for the big clubs – why not, but right now it’s off-topic, I’m with the national team. We have two important matches (against Gibraltar and Greece). The transfer window has just started, we’ll see all of that when the international break is over.”

Kolo Muani is said to be one target under consideration by United as they look for alternative options to Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, who is believed to be at the top of Erik ten Hag’s wishlist. Football Insider have claimed the Red Devils have already ‘pressed ahead’ with negotiations with Eintracht, despite viewing their £80million valuation as ‘excessive’.

Talks have already been held with the player’s agent in a bid to ‘sound out’ his willingess to move to Old Trafford and snub interest from both Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain.
