Manchester United have issued an update on the fitness of duo Raphael Varane and James Garner.
The pair weren’t involved for the Red Devils in Tuesday’s clash with Crystal Palace, although Erik ten Hag did manage to name a 17-man bench for the clash in Melbourne.

Hide AdVarane missed Friday’s match against Melbourne Victory but was pictured training over the weekend, meanwhile Garner has not played at all in pre-season due to a knock.
But following the announcement of the teams for the fixture with Palace, United explained the decision not to name the duo in the squad was the result of a ‘precaution’.
“Raphael Varane and James Garner are not in the matchday squad but this is only as a precaution and they will continue to train with the group,” the club said on their website.
However, one man who did return to the team on Tuesday was David de Gea, who missed last weekend’s win over Melbourne after he picked up a slight injury in the opening pre-season game against Liverpool.

The latter started his first game for the Red Devils following his summer signing from Feyenoord, with Luke Shaw dropping to the bench.
In midfield, it was the familiar duo of Scott McTominay and Fred, while Bruno Fernandes played in the No.10 role.
In the wide areas, Ten Hag lined up with Jadon Sancho on the right and Marcus Rashford on the left, with Anthony Martial up front.
