Manchester United are on course to land a significant transfer windfall ahead of the upcoming transfer deadline.

Manchester United look set to land a significant transfer windfall as they search for midfield reinforcements.

Erik ten Hag is still not done adding to his squad, with further reinforcements required if the Red Devils are going to compete at the very top end of the Premier League. That much has become clear from United’s first two games of the season, with Ten Hag’s men defeating Wolves with a poor performance before going on to lose against Tottenham over the weekend.

New signing Rasmus Hojlund is yet to come into the fold, while Andre Onana and Mason Mount are still adjusting to their new surroundings.

But Ten Hag needs more depth in certain areas, including midfield, in particular. Scott McTominay and Fred aren’t rated particularly highly by the Dutch boss, and Casemiro needs help in the heart of midfield.

The problem with more incomings is that United need to offload players to balance the books, given they have spent so much over recent years. The Red Devils haven’t had much luck on that front this summer, with Harry Maguire staying put, while McTominay and Fred seem to be closer to staying than departing.

There is one piece of good news for United, though, and it comes in the form of goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who does seem to be on his way to departing.

Fabrizio Romano has tweeted: “Crystal Palace are currently ahead of Nottingham Forest in the race to sign Dean Henderson #CPFC Negotiations continue on both club and player side. Henderson, still expected to leave Man Utd.”

Henderson once vyed with David De Gea for the starting role at Old Trafford, but he was sent on loan to Nottingham Forest last season, and Tom Heaton has seemingly been promised the number two role behind new signing Onana this season. The Sun say United have told Palace they will have to pay £10million for Henderson.
