Manchester United continue to be linked with a move for Ajax winger Antony, and they could make the winger’s dream come true by pulling off a deal.

Manchester United could make Antony’s dream come true this summer.

United continue to be linked with the winger as they search for improvements to their squad, having already snapped up three key signings.

Erik ten Hag has already added Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez to his new squad, and he is not likely to finish there.

Centre midfield is an area he and the club’s recruitment staff are likely to prioritise amid the departures of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba this summer.

But United may also find themselves needing to replace Cristiano Ronaldo as speculation continues over the Portuguese superstar’s future.

And the latest reports suggest United could push for a move to sign Ajax’s star Brazilian Antony regardless of whether Ronaldo stays.

If the Red Devils do pursue a move and agree a fee with Ajax, they shouldn’t find it too tricky to convince Antony, either.

Speaking to De Telegraaf in February, the winger revealed his dream to play in one of the best two leagues in the world.

“Ajax is a place where I am happy. But of course I think of an exit in the future, at times,” he said.

“The Premier League and La Liga are competitions I like. When the right moment comes, I hope to play there.”

Crucially, Antony also spoke in glowing terms about his then Ajax boss and now United head coach Ten Hag.

“He is an incredible coach with a big eye for detail. The team is always most important for him, and each player improves with his sessions,” he added.

“From when I arrived, he gave me a lot of confidence. I am very grateful and I respect him a lot.”

It’s believed Ajax want as much as £51million for the Brazilian this summer, and it will be interesting to see whether United are willing to put so much of their budget into pulling off this deal.
