The Manchester United midfielder has endured a frustrating season having started just two Women’s Super League games but Skinner has insisted she has a future with the club.

Norway international Boe Risa signed for United in the summer of 2021 and agreed a two year deal while the club was under the management of Casey Stoney and many have questioned what the future may hold for the 27-year-old after her lack of game time this season.

“I’ve been very clear on this and will continue to be clear about this - hopefully it is the last time I have to speak about it.” said Skinner.

“Vilde has done expectional in moments this year and there’s still a lot of the game we want her to work on but she’s been great. However, the balance of our team is really important that you fit the right kind of physical balance with the mental balance and the communication balance - it is not about Vilde not being a good player. Vilde is excellent and she is one of the best characters, I have no doubt about that.

“The reality is when I’m looking at a team and trying to strike balance with the types of players we had and the the types of players that were given to me at that time, we just have to try and strike and balance. Sometimes that hasn’t striked as many minutes as Vilde would have liked but we are where we are for a reason as well” he added.

There had been concerns throughout the fan base over Boe Risa’s contract too, with her deal believed to have been expiring this summer, though the Red Devil’s boss has insisted that is not the case and revealed the details of her deal.

“Vilde has an option on her contract - so it is not expiring.

“We can look at all the things we should have done and then they are things we’ve actually done and got us to where we are right now. There’s always an argument on both sides - but Vilde is an excellent character, has shown some excellent football traits at times and she will continue to grow - and she isn’t out of contract.

The 40-year-old boss faces a mammoth final two games in the Women’s Super League as they aim to take the title race to the wire., First up is a Manchester derby at Leigh Sports Village this Sunday and he revealed the mood is positive with the camp despite last weekend’s 1-0 defeat in the FA Cup Final.

“The mood has been okay. The worst thing about the day was the result. I felt like in our first final we gave a lot of personality. We could have been overrawed by the occasion but we weren’t. We were well in the game, maybe Chelsea’s experience in that moment shone through but the reality is there were moments of that game that were excellent and I just remind the players of the that.

“It didn’t help that my Dad had a heart attack the day before the game. He’s okay now but that’s the factors I don’t think people see when you go into games. I felt we, as a collective, did very well at kind of hiding those. That’s the reality of how professional we are we are here to do it for our fans and to stay focused. So I am okay and I am tough enough to help my team when they need it. I felt hurt for the team after that game because I thought they did really well”.

Everyone at ManchesterWorld would like to send our best wishes to Marc and his family.
