Manchester United continue to be linked with a number of possible signings and they could have the chance to strengthen their squad in the January window if they are able to pursue a suitable loan deal while money is only likely to be available for permanent signings if some players depart.
Marcus Rashford is looking the most likely to move on as things stand amid links to several clubs. AC Milan have held talks with the England international but there is said to be a stumbling block over how much of his wages the Serie A club would be willing to pay during a proposed loan spell.

Joshua Zirkzee is another player who could leave the club just six months after completing a £36.5m move from Bologna.
United ‘exploring’ Kolo Muani loan
The Telegraph has reported this week that United are among a number of clubs looking to seal a loan deal for Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani this month. Goals have been an issue for United this season, who have found the net just 23 times in 20 Premier League games. That makes them the fifth-lowest scorers in the Premier League.
The France international joined the Parc de Princes outfit for £74m in the summer of 2023 from Bundesliga side Frankfurt. However, the 26-year-old has struggled to find consistent form at PSG, and has been told he can seek a loan move away from the French capital. He scored 26 goals in 50 games for the Bundesliga side before moving to PSG. He also contributed 17 assists in that time. Reports in Italy last week claimed that Arsenal were also interested in the player however, it is United's Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur who have reportedly stolen a march on a potential deal.
Tottenham ‘accelerate’ deal for Kolo Muani
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou is said to have already spoken to the striker and assured him regular game time in North London. According to Italian Football Journalist Mirko Di Natale, Spurs have accelerated their pursuit of the player in the last 48 hours. He posted on X: “Tottenham is working on a loan with an option for €60 million [£50m] and hopes to close the deal as soon as possible. Spurs have accelerated in the last 48 hours to avoid competition from important clubs such as Juventus.”

Hide AdTottenham do not have the same issues with scoring goals that are currently plaguing United but there is a sense that Timo Werner does not have a long-term future at Spurs with Son Heung-min, Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson the preferred front three. Son recently had a contract extension triggered by the North London outfit but at the age of 32, Spurs are seeking some better options up top and look to have beaten their Premier League rivals and some top European clubs to sign Kolo Muani in a bid to help get their season back on track.
