Sweden international Leopold Wahlstedt has admitted he has had ‘good dialogue’ with his agent after he was watched by Manchester United and Liverpool.

The 23-year-old currently plies his trade in Norway with Odds BK and is believed to have been monitored by the Red Devils as they look to freshen up their goalkeeping ranks during the summer transfer window. Contract talks with regular number one David de Gea are said to be ongoing but backup options Jack Butland and Tom Heaton are both out of contract at the end of the season - although the latter has a one-year option on his existed deal.

There have been reports United have taken a personal check on Wahlstedt in recent weeks and were represented in the stands as he kept a clean sheet in a goalless draw against Rosenberg at the weekend - but there have been suggestions Liverpool are also keen on handing him and opportunity to shine in the Premier League.

The once-capped Sweden international has spoken about speculation over his future and has confirmed he is yet to agree a contract extension as his current deal coming to an end in December.

In an interview with Fotbollskanalen, he said: “It’s fun when it’s written positively about clubs seeing what you’re doing, then you’ve done something good. They are absolutely big clubs. But I don’t want to comment on any specific club’s interest or anything like that at the moment.

“As you say, my contract expires at the end of the year. I guess we’ve had contract discussions for about a year now but haven’t agreed on anything new yet. Right now, I just carry on as I have done before, and the rest will take care of itself.

“I have a good dialogue with my agent. I would like to know when the interest is quite concrete. But you don’t need to know all the clubs that are interested or that watch the matches. Last year there were many clubs, but I think I managed it quite well actually.”
