The January transfer window might be firmly in the rear view mirror but clubs across the country are already being linked with major moves in the summer

Manchester United restricted their business to loan moves last month with the additions of Jack Butland, Wout Weghorst and Marcel Sabitzer. With those three players only staying at Old Trafford for a short time it could mean a serious turnover of the squad in the summer with Erik ten Hag reportedly planning a ‘big money fire sale’ in the summer that would see multiple stars heading for the exit door. Meanwhile, the Red Devils continue to be linked with a long term signing target but could be set to face competition from Chelsea, who haven’t been shy to spend big. Here are the latest Manchester United transfer news headlines on Sunday, February 8:

Chelsea will ‘target’ striker and pay ‘whatever it takes’ to beat Man Utd

Per The Mirror, Chelsea have joined Manchester United in the hunt to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer. The 24-year old remains one of the most in demand players in Europe, having scored 15 goals in 20 games this season, but the Serie A side have set a whopping £89 million price tag on his services.

The report claims that Chelsea are ready to rival both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain for the Nigerian’s signature and will pay ‘whatever it takes’ to outbid their rivals. This would apparently mean they could end up paying as much as £100 million to ensure they outbid other suitors with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Stamford Bridge future thought to be in doubt.

Man Utd to ‘initiate fire sale’ of six first team stars to facilitate summer rebuild

Another report from The Mirror claims that Manchester United are preparing for a ‘big-money fire sale’ in the summer as Erik tek Hag looks to get rid of several current Old Trafford stars to make way for new signings. Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay are said to be the three biggest names heading for the Old Trafford exit door if the Dutchman gets his wish.

Alex Telles, Eric Bailly and Donny van de Beek are the other three players also said to be going on the market. Despite spending £80 million to sign Maguire, the report says the Red Devils believe the time is right to ‘cut their losses’ on the defender.
