Manchester United are reportedly poised to replace Martin Dubravka with Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland. The Red Devils have been searching for a new stopper after Newcastle United decided to recall their back-up option.

As per BBC Sport, Butland is having a medical on Thursday as Erik ten Hag’s side close in on a loan move. He is seen as ideal cover for David de Gea until the end of this season.

Butland, 29, is an experienced ‘keeper who has racked up 291 appearances in his career so far. He has been on the books at Selhurst Park since 2020 but hasn’t been the Eagles’ number one, playing just 17 times altogether so far for the London outfit.

The Bristol-born man started out at Birmingham City and broke into their first-team as a youngster before Stoke City snapped him up in 2013. He then spent seven years with the Potters but had loan spells away at Barnsley, Leeds United and Derby County during his time in Staffordshire to get plenty of game time under his belt.

United will see him as a safe pair of hands and someone they can depend on if injuries strike in their goalkeeping department between now and the end of the campaign. They are currently sat in 4th place.

As for Dubravka, Newcastle have a decision to make on what to do with him this winter and he is down the pecking order under Eddie Howe. Leicester City have been linked, as reported by the Daily Mail.
