Man United 'rejected' by £83 million-rated Real Madrid star over 'practically impossible scenario'
The Red Devils are keeping their options open ahead of the upcoming transfer windows.
Manchester United have been keepings tabs on a number of exciting players as we enter the final weeks of 2024. Following the appointment of Ruben Amorim, a new chapter has started at Old Trafford and the club are now considering their options when it comes to new signings.
Over the summer, there were a lot of talks regarding a squad overhaul and it was even reported at one point that United were open to receiving offers for almost all of their first team players, including Marcus Rashford. The Red Devils offloaded the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek, and signed off on the sale of Scott McTominay as well.
As the January window approaches, United are once again open to selling some senior players, with recent reports linking Harry Maguire and Antony among others to 2025 exits. Amorim’s side are also lining up potential targets to bolster their side, as they look to attack the second half of the Premier League season and climb the table.
According to Bernabéu Digital, United are keen on signing Eduardo Camavinga from Real Madrid and his entourage have been made aware of their interest. The Reds are weighing up the likelihood of a January move but the report says this is a ‘practically impossible scenario’. The option of waiting until the end of the season is also being discussed but Camavinga’s response has reportedly been that of a ‘no, thank you’.
United have reportedly not even been able to discuss figures with Madrid, as it was has been ‘nothing more than an unsuccessful feeler’ on behalf of the Premier League giants. The France international has been with Los Blancos since 2021, after his €40 million (£34.4m) move from Rennes.
Camavinga signed an initial six-year deal with Madrid but he is now under contract until 2029 and Transfermarkt value him at a hefty €100 million (£83m). He is said to be ‘flattered’ by United’s interest but his desire is to remain with Real Madrid for many years moving forwards. Camavinga is a central midfielder by trade but he can also operate in the No.6 role and on the left in both midfield and defence when called upon.
United are reportedly looking to sell Casemiro this time round and have made it clear that they will not be renewing Christian Eriksen’s contract, which comes to an end next June. There were also summer murmurs regarding a potential exit for Mason Mount, who has made just three Premier League appearances so far this season.
