Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans have both been passed fit to feature after they were included in the travelling squad for the match, while Harry Maguire is also set to be involved after he had missed training in midweek. Varane was taken off as a precaution during the weekend draw with Brentford while Evans was not involved in the match at all. There is also another fitness boost with Altay Bayindir back in the squad after he missed the recent clashes with both Liverpool and Brentford.

United know they will need a huge improvement from their weekend clash with Brentford as they look to reignite their faint hopes of qualifying for the Champions League. Tottenham were held to a draw by West Ham in midweek while Aston Villa were easily beaten by Man City last night.

Speaking ahead of the match, Ten Hag reiterated his hopes of qualifying for the Champions League and refused to use the injury situation as a valid excuse if they fail to do so. "I have high standards and I would be disappointed if we didn't qualify," he told reporters. "I know it will be very difficult because we are not in a good position. But we want to win every game, that is the standard we have here among each other.

"We will keep going and keep believing in those standards. That will be the approach in every game. We will keep fighting until the end. I know we are not in a good position. We have to catch up. Also I know we have had a lot of problems so I am a realistic man also. In a competition that is so competitive and the teams are so close in terms of levels with each other then also you need the players to be available. And to make a consistent team to bring the routines in in your way of play and that is depend… the results.. that is a fact.

“If you have to make compromises your levels will drop, you will drop points. If you play in a consistent team your levels will go up. When you bring in the best players in your squad you will collect more points and that is a fact so I will be realistic but nevertheless I will keep fighting in every game and I will demand every game a win because we are Man Utd and we have to win every game."
