Champions League-chasing club 'to send Man Utd player back' from loan in summer, hopes of permanent deal over

Man United currently have six players out on loan, with all six ending at the end of the season.

Manchester United will have some big decisions to make regarding some of their loaned-out players this summer, as they are all due to return to Old Trafford in June when their deals expire.

The likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho are all expected to be sold in the summer in order to generate some funds for United’s transfer business. Rashford is said to have a £40m buy-option in his loan deal at Aston Villa.

Sancho is likely to join Chelsea in the summer as the Blues have an obligation to buy the English winger, whereas Antony looks set to return before being sol, even though Real Betis want to keep hold of him on loan. He has also been linked to Atletico Madrid.

Malacia set to return from PSV

Another United player who is out on loan this season is Tyrell Malacia, who struggled to get into the United side after recovering from a long-term leg injury that he suffered last season.

The Dutchman has made 10 appearances for PSV, but has not been able to score or assist for the Eredivisie side, who have been one of the most attacking units in European football. Malacia also started in both of PSV’s Champions League games against Arsenal in the Round of 16, when they were beaten 9-3 on aggregate.

According to reports in Holland, PSV have not been impressed by the 25-year-old, and are not going to activate his buy-option in the summer. Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur say that PSV have not been convinced by the left-back, and will send him back to Old Trafford at the end of his loan deal.

It means that United may have to find a buyer for Malacia in the summer, but after injury struggles and a poor season this year for both United and PSV, they might struggle to get much back in the way of funds. The Dutch club are chasing a spot in the Champions League again next season with the top two Eredivisie clubs earning a spot in the competition. PSV are second, five points ahead of Feyenoord in third. Ajax top the table, nine points above PSV. While the title looks to be heading to Amsterdam, PSV still have work to do to secure their UCL place.

Which loan players could leave the club?

As previously mentioned, it looks all but certain that Sancho will join Chelsea in the summer transfer window, despite the fact that Chelsea could pay a cancellation fee to send him back to Old Trafford.

Rashford has a £40m buy option, but it has not yet been made clear whether Villa want to make his move to Villa Park permanent. The England international has so far scored three goals and provided six assists for Unai Emery’s side. The Villa boss picked him to play over Ollie Watkins in their most recent Champions League clash against PSG.

Antony will return to United, but only temporarily as the club are confident they can sell him for a decent fee after his performances on loan increased his market value. So far, the Brazilian has scored four goals and provided four assists in 15 games for Real Betis.
