The Manchester United goalkeeper was arguably at fault for all three goals against Galatasaray.

Paul Scholes has slammed Andre Onana’s performance on Wednesday night as Manchester United conceded three away to Galatasaray.

The Red Devils had led 3-1 and 2-0 but ended up drawing 3-3 in Istanbul, with Onana making huge errors from two Hakim Ziyech free-kicks. The goalkeeper misjudged the first, which zipped through the ball and went to Onana’s right after he had stepped to his left, while for the second the ex-Ajax man flapped at the ball and it squirmed in under his body.

Even for the third goal, Onana didn’t cover himself in glory as Kerem Akturkoglu curled a shot past the 27-year-old at his near post.

It’s been a recurring theme for Onana, who made two big errors in the reverse fixture against Galatasaray, and in the opening game against Bayern Munich.

Speaking after the game, Scholes was critical of Onana and questioned the player’s concentration, while he also claimed other team’s are targeting him as the weak link.

“He makes people nervous and I think he makes his defenders nervous and the whole team,” the former midfielder said on TNT Sports. He makes simple saves look really difficult. For me, all three goals are down to him. His technique looks awkward.

“It’s a shame because in the last few weeks, in the Premier League especially, he has started to look okay. He’s looking a lot better - still making unconventional saves. It’s the Champions League where it’s been a struggle for him.

“I don’t know why, is he too causal? I think he’s too relaxed and I don’t think his concentration is all there which is the most important thing for a goalkeeper.

“You think of the other team watching the goalkeeper and thinking ‘he’s nervous, we’re just going to shoot’. Get the ball in and around him, he looks like he’s going to concede every time.”
