Jadon Sancho arrived in Germany on Wednesday night ahead of completing his loan move to Borussia Dortmund.

The Manchester United winger is set to join the Bundesliga club until the end of the 2023/24 season, having not played for the Red Devils since August due to his high-profile falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.

The plane carrying Sancho landed in Dortmund airport on Wednesday night, with the footage widely shared on social media, while Sky Germany’s Patrick Berger also posted a video of him arriving at Dortmund’s training base on Thursday morning.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the player will complete his medical tests today (Thursday) with the clubs beginning to exchange documents for the loan deal that will cost Dortmund just €4m (£3.4m).

Sancho provided a hint that the move is close to being completed when he liked a ‘here-we-go’ post from Romano on Wednesday, and subsequently reactivated his Instagram account, with his new profile picture an image of Sancho’s legs wearing the yellow Dortmund socks from his previous spell at the club.

Meanwhile, BBC Sports’ Simon Stone has reported the 23-year-old could even train with the side on Thursday and Friday and might be an option for Saturday’s Bundesliga game against Darmstadt.

Sancho’s last appearance came on 26 August when he played 30 minutes in United’s comeback win over Nottingham Forest. The following week he was dropped from the squad by Erik ten Hag, who cited his poor performances in training as the reason he wasn’t involved.

That was a version of events Sancho disagreed with and claimed via a social post that Ten Hag’s claims were ‘totally untrue’ and said he was being made a ‘scapegoat’ by his manager. He was subsequently banished from the first team and forced to train with the youth side, with the lack of an apology meaning Ten Hag has remained unwilling to reintegrate him into the squad.
