Man Utd midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has continued his meteoric rise at international level.

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo isn’t getting carried away after playing a key role in England’s triumphant run to the European Championship final.

The 19-year-old put in a stellar showing on Wednesday night as Gareth Southgate’s side came from behind to defeat the Netherlands 2-1 and reach their second successive Euros final.

England will now be looking to go one better when they face Spain on Sunday night, with the performance of Mainoo likely to be integral to their hopes of winning an historic major tournament.

While it has already been a memorable few weeks for the United midfielder, he isn’t getting complacent ahead of the final. "100% that is the aim, that's the only reason we're here,” he told the FA. "We're not here to get to the final and call it quits. We're here to win and to sketch our names into history.

"What a team performance overall. Everyone ran themselves into the ground against tough opposition and managed to come away with the win. What a finish from Ollie Watkins. What a way to do it."

It has been a remarkable rise for Mainoo, who was only brought into the starting line up for the round of 16 win over Slovakia, but he isn’t resting on his laurels yet.

He added: "I'm here to do a job for the team and I'm here to win. It's a dream come true. I can't get caught up in the bright lights. I've got to get my head down and do the job."
