Manchester United are back in Premier League action on Saturday with an away trip to Bournemouth

Manchester United boosted their hopes of making the top four with their 2-0 win over Wolves over the weekend. Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho were on the scoresheet for the hosts at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s side are currently sat in 4th position in the Premier League table behind Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle United. They are behind the latter on goal difference with three games left of the season to play.

United will return to the Champions League if they can stay where they are. However, they have Liverpool breathing down their neck.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have hit form at the right time and take on relegation-threatened Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Monday evening as they look to keep their momentum going. Here is a look at the current standings...

3. Newcastle, 66 points, fixtures: Brighton (H), Leicester (H), Chelsea (A)

4. Man Utd, 66 points, fixtures: Bournemouth (A), Chelsea (H), Fulham (H)

The crucial thing for United is the fact they will have a game in hand on Liverpool after their clash against the Foxes. This means that their fate is still in their own hands heading into the final couple of weeks of the campaign.

Ten Hag’s side take on a Bournemouth outfit who are already safe and can afford to put their feet up now. They then face Chelsea who have been poor under Frank Lampard followed by Fulham who don’t really have much to play for either.

How many points to make the top four?

Assuming Liverpool win all three of their fixtures against Leicester, Aston Villa and Southampton, that would take them to a final tally of 71 points, which is a whopping 21 points behind what they had last year.

United only need to win two of their remaining outings to make the top four. Even two draws and a win would do it as five points are required.
