There is set to be a new face in the Manchester United squad when they host fierce rivals Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

United head into the match with a defensive shortage to contend with and could have just two fit centre-backs available after Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans both limped out of the midweek defeat to Chelsea.

Erik ten Hag also has a shortage at full-back with Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka the only available options after long-term setbacks for both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. United’s options at full-back are further restricted by the injuries at centre-back, with versatile options Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez both set to be out for the best part of a month.

United will have to get creative to give themselves appropriate cover on the bench and it looks like it result in a first senior squad involvement for teenager Harry Amass.

Here is everything you need to know about him...

Full name: Harry Amass

Nationality: English

Date of Birth: 16 March, 2007 (17)

Squad number: 70

Previous club: Watford youth

United fought off plenty of interest when they signed Amass from Watford last summer. He has been a huge part of their success at U18s level this season, but missed the 9-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday afternoon in anticipation of his first-team involvement.

The teenage left-back has earned international recognition for his performances and has already featured for England at various youth levels and as high as the Under-17s.

Before he signed for United, Amass was considered one of the brightest talents from Watford’s academy system. He joined the club at the age of nine and featured for them through all the age groups up to the U23s.

Amass was included in a first-team squad at the age of just 15 back in January 2023 and was named on the bench for an FA Cup third-round clash against Reading.

It would not be a surprise if Amass was involved in United’s pre-season plans this summer, particularly given the uncertainty of Malacia’s return to action. Due to his involvement in the Uefa Youth League earlier in the season, he was handed the No.70 senior squad number.
