Manchester United are now preparing for their return to action as the international break winds down.

It has been a disappointing start for the Red Devils, who have won twice and lost as many, but their performances have been a point for concern, regardless of results. Not only that, but situations involving Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood and Antony have seen the club make far too many headlines off the pitch, adding further distractions.

As United look to turn things around, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Old Trafford.

McTominay claim

Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker is baffled over Scott McTominay’s lack of involvement at Old Trafford amid good form at international level.

“I notice Scott McTominay playing and getting in the box a lot,” Lineker told The Rest Is Football podcast. “He scored again in this game, he scored a couple. He’s top scorer in qualifying.

“It’s nuts, yet he’s not really getting a look in at Manchester United. Someone will go for him [in the January transfer window or next summer] surely?”

McTominay was linked with a move away during the summer, but his staying put means he will now compete with Sofyan Amrabat for regular football.

Ferdinand on Sancho

Rio Ferdinand has issued his thoughts on the developing Sancho situation at United.

“One of the big issues now is Antony and what happens to Sancho,” Ferdinand told Vibe with Five. “I think the manager will be thinking, ‘If I play him, or put him straight back in after what he has done, what message does that send to the squad?’.

“I think what is going to mean a lot is how he addresses the squad, if he makes the decision by playing him straight away. If he addresses the squad and says, ‘Listen, this is why it is happening, guys, and on another day he doesn’t play’, or whatever.

“I think he will either go that way or just say, ‘He isn’t playing. This week he’s out. I do need him but I’ll let him go out’. He could then play Garnacho and Pellistri etc. and then go from there.”
