Fulham could welcome back three injured players this weekend when Manchester United travel to Craven Cottage.

The side from west London have won just one of the last five league matches, but progressed to the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Wednesday thanks to a 3-1 victory over Ipswich Town.

Fourteenth-place Fulham will also move above an out-of-form United side if they can win by two or more goals at the Cottage on Saturday, and despite the Red Devils’ poor form, manager Marco Silva said he still expects a tough game.

“We know what type of club we are going to play against, but we look really for ourselves first of all,” said the 46-year-old. “We know their form, but they are Man United, too. If you think that any situation is going to be easy because they are in a bad moment, that’s going to be the first mistake that we are going to make.”

Silva was also asked for the latest team news and revealed only one player has been ruled out indefinitely for the Premier League encounter. “Last steps for the recovery for Kenny Tete plus Tosin [Adarabioyo] and Adama [Traore] are already working with the team”, the ex-Watford and Everton boss revealed. “I’m going to take a decision if one or two of them will be ready to be involved on the squad list. Issa Diop is going to take more time.

As for the visitors, Raphael Varane is back following an illness that prevented him from playing in the midweek Carabao Cup loss to Newcastle United. Aaron Wan-Bissaka returned in that game and should be available to start against the Cottagers, while Kobbie Mainoo is expected to take a place among the substitutes.

However, Ten Hag revealed on Friday that Victor Lindelof is a doubt due to illness, while Casemiro has been ruled out for ‘several weeks’ with a hamstring injury. The Brazilian joins Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Amad in United’s list of injured players. Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho won’t be involved as he continues to be frozen out by Ten Hag, a standoff which has now lasted two months.

Doubts: Adarabioyo, Tete, Traore (Fulham); Lindelof (United); Diop (Fulham); Martinez, Shaw, Malacia, Casemiro, Amad, Sancho (United).
