Former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard is set to complete a shock move after months out of the game. Lingard left Old Trafford in 2022 after allowing his contract to expire, linking up with then Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest.

After just one season with Forest and 17 league appearances, the midfielder left the City Ground at the end of his short-term deal there, and he has been looking for a club ever since, spending the first half of this season and more without a team. A number of Premier League clubs were linked, but a move abroad lies in wait for the former United man.

Lingard has posted a picture from the airport on his Instagram as he prepares to fly to South Korea to link up with Seoul. The manager of the South Korean club, Kim Gi-dong recently confirmed talks with Lingard, saying: "I heard about it two to three weeks ago and I thought it was unrealistic.

"I asked our director of football about it and he replied to me: yes, it's true, we are in contact with the player, but the deal is not confirmed yet. If he comes, of course, it would be great for K-League as more foreign fans would be interested in our league. And if he comes as he was not playing for a while, we need to give him time to adapt rather than expect an instant impact."

Reports claim Lingard will receive a significant pay packet in Korea, but it's certainly a left-field move for the 31 year old whose best days appear to be behind him. The K-League is yet to begin for its latest season but FC Seoul finished top of the bottom half last season term, effectively finishing mid-table, with the league splitting into two halfway through the campaign.
