'It's a possibility' - Fabrizio Romano reveals extra position Manchester United could target in summer window

Man Utd are drawing up plans to improve their squad in the summer transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano says Manchester United will consider the addition of two attacking players in the summer transfer window, though their transfer plans will be dictated by how successful the end of their season is.

Manchester World understand United have currently budgeted for the summer on the presumption they will not have European football next season, with the club set for their lowest ever Premier League finish. It means their only hope of playing in European competition will be if they win the Europa League and subsequently earn a place in the Champions League.

If that happens, United will not only become a more attractive prospect for new signings to join, they will also have greater financial strength to spend in the summer window. As things stand, United will only have a small budget in the transfer window and will have to sell players in order to finance their own signings.

Fabrizio Romano issues transfer update

Manchester World understand Manchester United will prioritise the addition of a striker in the summer transfer window as Ruben Amorim looks to add extra firepower to his forward line. It is unlikely they will be able to afford a top target like Viktor Gyokeres or Benjamin Sesko, while Victor Osimhen is reportedly set for a move to Saudi Arabia at the end of the season.

Amorim would also like to add a right winger to his squad and a central midfielder, though there is also a desire to add another attacking midfielder. It seems unlikely United will sign two attacking players unless they qualify for the Champions League and Fabrizio Romano has reiterated that their summer plans will be heavily dictated by the uncertain financial situation of the club.

Writing in his latest GIVEMESPORT newsletter, the transfer guru said: "It's a possibility to add at least one more, to play behind the striker. But again, Financial Fair Play and sales will dictate the market and we will understand later on how much they can really spend this summer."
