Fabrizio Romano issues exciting Chido Obi-Martin update after signing new Manchester United contract

Man Utd won the race to sign Chido Obi-Martin in the summer transfer window after he left former club Arsenal.

Fabrizio Romano is expecting big things for Chido Obi-Martin at Manchester United and says he is already 'really, really' trusted by coaches as he looks to make his breakthrough at first-team level.

Obi-Martin signed his first professional contract at the club last week on the same day he celebrated his 17th birthday. When United won the race to sign the highly-rated goal scorer in the summer, he was only allowed to sign scholarship terms because of his age.

However, he has now been rewarded with a professional deal which included a sizeable pay increase he was unable to earn when he was legally classified as a schoolboy. Obi-Martin has scored five goals in five appearances for United U18s since he left Arsenal in the summer, though his professional contract was negotiated as part of the initial move to bring him to the club and is not a reaction to his encouraging start to life at the club.

Speaking on his YouTube channel this week, Romano issued a brief update on the talented teenager and reiterated that he is already trusted by United coaches as he looks to make his first-team debut before the end of the season.

"On Manchester United, remember what I told you in the past few days. Also, Chido Obi Martin, who turned 17 last week, signed his first professional contract at Manchester United," Romano said. "He joined in the summer from Arsenal, now turning 17 with his first pro contract at Manchester United - another talent that they really, really trust."
