Ex-Manchester United midfielders Michael Carrick and Roy Keane have been given outside odds of becoming the next Celtic manager.

The Hoops are on the lookout for a new boss following the news Agne Postecoglou has been appointed the next Tottenham Hotspur manager. The Australian has signed a four-year deal in North London, meaning Celtic will have to find a replacement for the man who led the club to a treble this season.

A number of names are in the frame, with former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers among the favourites, as are Enzo Maresca, Steve Clarke and Scott Brown. Carrick and Keane come further back in the odds for the next Celtic manager.

Carrick comes in 10th in the latest odds, as per our sister site GlasgowWorld. The 41-year-old enjoyed a superb first campaign as a senior manager and led Middlesbrough to the play-offs despite the club being 21st when he took over. Carrick, who briefly managed a few United matches after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking at Old Trafford in 2021, was also linked with the Crystal Palace job in March.

As for Keane, he’s 12th on the list of favourites. The Irishman has not managed a team since 2011 and his last coaching role came at Nottingham Forest, a position he left in 2019. Keane did end his career with Celtic and won the title with the Bhoys in 2006. Ironically, it was Carrick who was Keane’s long-term replacement and inherited his no.16 jersey.

David Moyes is another ex-United figure who has been linked with the Celtic position - he’s currently priced at 17/2 to leave West Ham United and return to his native Scotland. The Glaswegian began his career at Celtic but has never managed a side from his homeland. In fact, Moyes’ last involvement in Scottish football was when he left Hamilton Academical as a player in 1993.
