Erik ten Hag: This is the only thing I can criticise Manchester United players for after West Ham defeat

Man Utd were somehow defeated 2-1 by West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Erik ten Hag says he was only able to criticise his Manchester United players for their poor finishing in their 2-1 to defeat to West Ham United in the Premier League.

Jarrod Bowen converted a late penalty to secure three points for his side, as he cancelled out Casemiro’s header after Crysencio Summerville had given West Ham the lead.

United felt aggrieved by the controversial decision to award the home side a penalty in the dying minutes of the match, though their abundance of missed opportunities was just as costly on an afternoon where they inconceivably dropped points once again.

Of all the chances United missed, the most glaring fell to defender Diogo Dalot, who latched onto a long pass and rounded goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański before firing wide of an open goal.

After the match, Ten Hag was asked about Dalot’s miss but used the opportunity to defend his full-back on an afternoon when a number of players fluffed their chances.

“I can also say Alejandro Garnacho twice, Rasmus Hojlund one time. Rashford, Bruno, the header so it is not fair to pick one of the players out who missed a chance. There were so many who missed.”

When pushed on the mood in the dressing room, he added that the only criticism he had of his side was the fact they had failed to make their dominance count. “Mixed feelings but first that is what my players do always, what I do always is we look in the mirror and what we do wrong and the only thing I can criticise the players for is missing chances. The decision by the referee had a big impact on the score.”
