The Ineos Group are conducting a thorough review of the campaign that has just passed and will judge the Dutchman over his entire time at the club, rather than the revisionism of their uplifting Wembley win.

Ten Hag oversaw arguably the best performance and result of his two-year United tenure with victory in the FA Cup final, a display that highlighted the untapped potential of his side. He has also had to contend with an unprecedented injury situation, that saw 66 individual cases of injury or illness which caused a senior player to miss a competitive match.

However, the injury situation also felt like a convenient excuse at times, with it often alluded to when performance levels on the pitch were simply not acceptable, irrespective of available personnel.

It remains to be seen what will happen next regarding Ten Hag's future, with the majority of supporters seemingly behind the manager after the manner of the FA Cup success and considering all the issues he has had to deal with this season.

ManchesterWorld understand that while the Dutchman could still be relieved of his duties, a decision on his future is unlikely to be communicated by the end of the week. Ten Hag is currently on holiday and has reiterated that he expects to be part of the club’s project moving forward. It must be warned that the situation can change quickly, but as things stand it could be next week that Ten Hag learns his fate.

Ineos have been sounding out a number of candidates should they decide to part ways with Ten Hag, with Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino two of the frontrunners should a role become available.
