Manchester United have been left contemplating their managerial situation after suffering another big blow, this time crashing out of the Champions League, and Europe altogether.

The Red Devils knew they needed to beat Bayern Munich to stand a chance of progressing on Tuesday night, but they were beaten 1-0 at home, and results elsewhere meant they stood no chance anyway, finishing bottom of the group and missing out on a Europa League spot.

The Bayern defeat came after a heavy home loss to strugglers AFC Bournemouth, and serious talk of Ten Hag potentially being sacked has returned. With that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest on the situation.

Ten Hag latest

The latest on Ten Hag, according to the Independent, is that the Dutchman is safe for now despite the disappointing start to the season managed by United. They claim that Ten Hag will benefit from circumstances surrounding the ownership of the club.

It's claimed the Red Devils board do not want to make any big decisions until Jim Ratcliffe's 25% purchase goes through. The process is ongoing at this point, and Ten Hag could well be given time to save his job until that process is completed.

Potter claim

According to The Sun, United are already planning for life after Ten Hag, and they are keen on former Chelsea boss Graham Potter. Potter enjoyed an impressive spell with Brighton, but he put together a near-disastrous spell in charge of Chelsea.

The report claims incoming partial owner Ratcliffe has already met with Potter about taking the helm at Old Trafford. Potter has been out of work since getting the sack at Stamford Bridge.

Lopetegui 'interest'

Another man being linked with the job is former Sevilla and Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui. Lopetegui has been out of work since walking away from Wolves just before the start of the season after a falling out with the Midlands club's chiefs.

It's claimed Lopetegui recently turned down a huge offer from Saudi Arabia, preferring to take a job in England, Relevo claim Lopetegui is among the names being considered by United, along with Zinedine Zidane, Roberto De Zerbi and the aforementioned Potter.
