Rangnick’s side have been given a ‘boost’ in their pursuit for Zakaria due to Liverpool having no interest in the Swiss international.
As per the Liverpool Echo, the 25-year-old’s club Borussia Monchengladbach are looking to sell the midfielder this month, instead of losing him on a free transfer in the summer and the Reds is not an option.
Due to his current contract situation with Gladbach, it is likely that the Red Devils will now wait until the summer to sign the Swiss international.

What else do we know?
In terms of Kamara, according to Marca, United have ‘enquired’ about signing the Frenchman from Marseille during the winter window.
He is also out of contract in the summer and is free to discuss a move to another club this month.
The Spanish site claims that the Red Devils are interested in bringing the 22-year-old to Old Trafford during the January transfer window for a ‘reduced fee’.

Marca adds that United are in ‘pole position’ for the midfielder despite interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Newcastle United and West Ham.
A move for Kamara would be deemed a sensible one from Rangnick considering Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard’s contracts expire in the summer and Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic aren’t getting any younger - both are 33.
