'Deal sealed' - Fabrizio Romano confirms £59m Man Utd & Liverpool 'target' has made major transfer decision

A reported Manchester United and Liverpool transfer target has agreed his next move

It has been a quiet transfer window so far for Manchester United with no changes to Ruben Amorim’s senior squad two weeks into January. The only deal happened last week, when United reached an agreement to send Under-21s player Ethan Ennis to join League Two Doncaster Rovers on loan.

There is little budget to work with for the Red Devils, who are mostly restricted to loans and free agents. New signings cannot be completely ruled out as any funds generated from player sales will have the potential to be reinvested into the first-team squad. United are keen to remain on the correct side of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules after it was confirmed on Tuesday all 20 Premier League clubs had been compliant with the financial rules for the 2023-24 accounting period.

Marcus Rashford is exploring a move away from the club while a number of other senior players could be on the move. Amorim is keen to add a left wing-back and striker to his squad but may be forced to wait until the summer.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia agrees PSG move

Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has agreed a move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to Fabrizio Romano. A recent report from L'Equipe in France had claimed that United had held ‘concrete talks’ about signing the forward who had made no secret of his desire to leave Napoli. The Athletic reported on Liverpool’s interest while Chelsea were another Premier League side said to be interested in the player.

In the summer, his agent said: "I don’t want people to think that Kvara wants to stay at Napoli. We want to leave, but we are waiting for the end of the Euros so as not to disturb Khvicha. The priority is to join a team that plays in the Champions League."

Interested Premier League clubs are set to miss out with a deal all but done. Romano posted on X: “Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain, here we go! Deal sealed today as planned between the two clubs. The transfer fee will be in excess of €70m package, as per RMC Sport. Five year contract for Kvara.”

Napoli eye Garnacho

With Kvaratskhelia set to move to Paris, Napoli are reportedly stepping up their efforts to sign United forward Alejandro Garnacho. He joined the Red Devils' youth set-up in 2020 and made his professional debut for the club in 2022. Reports in Italy, via Sport Italia, claim the player is being targeted by Napoli after previous links to Atletico Madrid. It was previously claimed United ‘would consider’ selling Alejandro Garnacho if a ‘big money’ offer came in for his services.

The Red Devils are said to want close to £60m to sell Garnacho. According to reports from Alfredo Pedulla Napoli have already made an offer of around £38m. United may lower their asking price but the Serie A club have reportedly lined up other targets if they are unable to agree a deal for Garnacho. Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna has met with Garnacho’s agent to “understand the feasibility” of a possible deal while also gauging the winger’s stance and what his salary demands would be.
