Cristiano Ronaldo’s immediate future at Manchester United remains one of the biggest talking points in the final days of the summer transfer window.

The Portuguese superstar is widely reported as wanting to leave Old Trafford sooner rather than later, with just one year remaining on his current deal, and it looks as if the club will not stand in his way if a suitable deal for all parties can be done.

However, finding the right move has so far been a challenge and the longer it goes on the more likely it seems to become that the six time Ballon D’Or winner will be staying put.

According to the most recent reports, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is working overtime to find a suitable move for his client and is understood to currently be in Italy speaking to a Serie A and Champions League side.

Here is the latest news on the Ronaldo situation ahead of transfer deadline day later this week:

Cristiano Ronaldo to Napoli: Could striker move to Old Trafford in ‘swap deal’?

Per a report from the Metro, which also cites Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Jorge Mendes is currently in talks with Napoli about a potential move to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium for his client.

It’s a move that seems to tick many of Ronaldo’s reported boxes including Champions League football with the Italian side having been drawn in the same group as Liverpool.

Interestingly, the latest news is suggesting that Ronaldo’s move back to the Serie A could be part of an elaborate ‘swap deal’ that sees Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen move to the Premier League.

The 23-year old is one of the most admired young strikers in European football but Napoli reportedly want a fee of £85 million for the player.

With just a few days remaining in the transfer window, it remains to be seen whether a deal will be possible.

Will Cristiano Ronaldo stay at Man Utd?

Despite the reports, it is still looking likely that Ronaldo will remain a Manchester United player as of September 3, 2022.

The oddsmakers have him at 2/7 to remain at Old Trafford and his most likely destination is Sporting CP in Portugal who are 11/2.

Napoli are priced at 6/1 while Chelsea, the subject of some of the most prominent links this summer, are 10/1.

Further down the market are AC Milan and Atletico Madrid at 25/1.
