Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Manchester United was perhaps inevitable following an explosive TV interview with Piers Morgan, in which he criticised the club, its owners and current manager Erik ten Hag.

The 37-year-old knew his comments were going to attract the club’s wrath - and it was announced on Tuesday that he was to leave United ‘by mutual agreement.’ It brings to an end his second spell with the Red Devils with immediate effect - and speculation is mounting about his next club.

In a statement United thanked Ronaldo “for his immense contribution” including scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances. With fans on social media divided over whether Ronaldo did the right think by speaking his mind, or whether he has tarnished his legacy at United, we took to the streets of Manchester to ask people their opinions.
