Christian Eriksen verbally agrees to join Man Utd on a three-year deal

Christian Eriksen has agreed in principle to join Manchester United on a three-year deal, ManchesterWorld understand.
The midfielder has verbally agreed to sign for the Red Devils, and contracts are being prepared.

Hide AdThe Athletic add Eriken will undergo medical tests which are described as a ‘significant hurdle’ given his history, although the outlet claim no problems are anticipated.


The 30-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2020 fixture Finland last summer and has since been fitted with a defibrillator.
Eriksen signed for Brentford in Januaron a short-term deal and impressed in the second half of last term.
Thomas Frank tried to convince the Dane to commit his future to the Bees, but Eriksen has instead opted for United.

He was also reportedly pursued by Tottenham Hotspur, while Newcastle United attempted to convince him to move to the North-East.
Eriksen previously made 305 appearances for Spurs and has also represented Inter Milan and Ajax in his distinguished career.
His arrival at Old Trafford means United will be blessed with options in attacking midfield. Bruno Fernandes remains the club’s most talented player, while Donny van de Beek is another creative option, along with youngster Hannibal.
Eriksen is also capable of playing from the left wing, something he did regularly in his time at Tottenham, although that’s a position Marcus Rashford hopes to make his own in 2022/23.

Hide AdMeanwhile, Tyrell Malacia is expected to be confirmed as a United signing soon, and is at Carrington today (Monday) completing the second part of his medical.
One person who is not at the club’s training ground is Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portugal forward requesting Monday off due to ‘family reasons’. The 37-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from the club, with The Times reporting over the weekend that Ronaldo has requested to leave United this summer.
