Greenwood will return to United after his loan-spell at La Liga club Getafe came to an end last weekend. The 22-year-old was named the club's Player of the Season after he scored 10 goals in 36 appearances.

ManchesterWorld understand the working assumption is Greenwood will be sold this summer with interest high in the academy product. His sale would provide a sizeable boost to complying with Financial Fair Play regulations given that it would be considered pure profit.

Greenwood has not played for United since he was suspended by the club amid allegations of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour. A lengthy investigation followed, before the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dropped all charges against Greenwood in February 2023.

Dortmund are one of the teams to be linked with a move Greenwood at the end of the season, but sporting director Kehl said all plans are on hold until after the Champions League final with Real Madrid this weekend.

"I don't want to talk about any rumours now at the moment because it makes no sense," Kehl said. "Let's play that final on Saturday. Of course we do have our plans for the next season and of course we discuss many scenarios, but nothing for today. Let's focus, let's anticipate that match on Saturday and then we'll see how we move on."

When asked if Greenwood is a player that Dortmund admire, Kehl added: "I don't want to talk about that now." Greenwood is contracted to United until the summer of 2025. It remains to be seen whether or not he will be invited back to the club's pre-season preparations.
