BBC Sports Personality of the Year: Full shortlist as Man Utd's Mary Earps nominated after shirt sells out

December is here and so is the run up to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards. Ahead of the ceremony, which will once again be held in Salford, the six person shortlist has been announced. 

Manchester United’s Mary Earps is on the list after what has been a brilliant year for her. As well as winning the Golden Glove award at the World Cup and saving a penalty in the final, Earps also won the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year accolade

Her off the pitch contributions have also had her in the news. She helped to successfully overturn a decision from Nike not to manufacture her own replica shirt. In recent days a batch of the shirt sold out within just five minutes on the official England store.  

Earps has had a successful year for Man Utd too, helping her side to their highest ever WSL finish last season and has kept several clean sheets  so far this season. She is now in the running for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

The ceremony will take place on Tuesday December 19 at a studio in MediaCity, Salford. Voting will be open for the public to decide who will be SPOTY during the show. Other awards to be given out during the ceremony include The Lifetime Achievement and World Sport Star awards.
