There is a lot going on at Manchester United right now with the potential takeover of the club continuing to dominate headlines as supporter frustration appears to grow.

Meanwhile, the summer transfer window is open and that is the main focus for Eric ten Hag and his staff as they look to strengthen their ranks for the 2023/24 Premier League season. Several first team players are tipped to leave Old Trafford this summer while a deal to sign Chelsea’s Mason Mount is the biggest piece of transfer news surrounding the club at the moment.

Elsewhere, a player who has long been on United’s wish list appears to now have interest from Bayern Munich who have reportedly ‘enquired’ about whether he might be available for transfer this summer. Per a report from 90min, the Bundesliga champions have contacted Barcelona about Frenkie de Jong’s availability.

The German side are said to be in the market for a new midfielder and have’ touched base’ with the Catalonians to ‘assess a potential deal’. The Dutchman has been a long term target for Manchester United, especially since the arrival of Eric ten Hag, and the club have made several attempts to sign him in the past.

The 26-year old looked all set to complete a €85 million move to Old Trafford last summer but there were reported issues over deferred wages owed to the player by Barcelona that prevented the move going through. However, the latest report states that the Red Devils ‘would be prepared to enter the mix again’ if de Jong is available for transfer this summer.

He is described as a player that Eric ten Hag ‘adores’ and it is said that they will ‘not be far away from any deal’ if a potential departure becomes a reality. Unfortunately, it is also reported that the problem with wages that prevented de Jong from moving to Old Trafford last summer ‘has not yet been solved’.
